The Ministry for Communities Development and the EBRD Discussed the Restoration of Critical Transport Infrastructure and the Development of EU Corridors

The Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine held a working meeting with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) focused on transport infrastructure priorities for 2026. The discussion centered on projects that support logistics continuity, export routes, and Ukraine’s integration into the EU transport system.

For businesses, this signals a focus on addressing transport “bottlenecks”: the quality of main highways, accessibility of border and port routes, and the predictability of infrastructure works. Certain decisions may affect route planning and carrier costs, making it advisable to inform clients through operational updates well ahead of peak seasons.

Key focus areas

The parties discussed the development of transport corridors between Ukraine and the EU, particularly the infrastructure of the Greater Odesa seaports and the Danube region. These routes remain critical for foreign trade and the resilience of supply chains.

The talks also covered the condition and financial stability of Ukrzaliznytsia and approaches to planning investments in transportation. This is important for the market, as tariffs, schedules, and traction availability directly affect logistics costs and the choice between road, rail, and multimodal solutions. In practical terms, companies are advised to review peak-season plans in advance and secure alternative supply chains, using proven 3PL/4PL processes in case of disruptions along specific segments.
